Packaging and Building are the largest markets for plastics accounting for 61% of all raw material consumption. Electrical, Furniture, Automotive, Argiculture, Medical appliances, Housewares, Toys, Leisure and Sport are other markets for plastics.

There are approximately 2,200 plastics manufacturing plants in Australia producing more than 1 million tonnes by injection moulding, blow moulding, extrusion, foam, and bag and film.
